President's Letter - Spring 2012

A very busy schedule for the rest of the year

Dear Westbridge Members,

It has been a busy year for the club, not just the education sessions, competitions and critiques; but each of the SIG’s and Focus Groups have had full schedules of events.  Now, as the club year winds down, we have some big events coming up.

Elections-May 2nd:  Gerry Allen, Chair of the nominating committee, emailed you a slate of candidates for the 2012-13 board for your consideration at the May 2nd meeting.  This year’s slate is:

If any other members wish to be placed on the ballot, please submit your name to Gerry Allen no later than Wednesday, April 25th.

Swap/Sell Meet-May 16thThis is always a fun and often a mutually profitable event.  With so many new cameras coming on the market, there should be some great used offerings.  If you are not familiar with the Swap/Meet, just bring your items to sell or swap, put them on a table and let the bargaining begin.  There are always a host of great deals at the event with everything photographic on the tables.

Annual Awards Banquet - Grand SalonA culmination of everyone’s hard work in creating their best pictures, and a fun night for all.  The night begins with a cocktail hour during which all the submitted prints and digital entries may be viewed.  After dinner, the awards for the Best in Category, Best Picture of the Year, Photographer of the Year and some others are made.  George Clark will be sending out details on the submission criteria, number of entries allowed, prizes etc. in the very near future.

Worthington Hills Country Club will be the venue for the party, and they put on a very popular event last year.  The newly elected president takes office at this meeting, and we then enjoy a presentation by a great photographer.  Dave Mondiek will organize this year’s event, and our featured photographer/presenter is Mark Fohl.

I look forward to seeing you all at all of these events,

Jim Mitchell
